The Workshop built the spars and did all of the
rigging work for the restoration of the New York 40'
MARILEE (right). William Cannell Boatbuilding of
Camden, Maine restored the hull of this Nathaniel
Herreshoff classic.
MARILEE was built in 1926 to join the racing fleet of
the New York Yacht Club. The "40" in her name
refers to MARILEE's waterline length. The length on
deck is 59?. The mast is 73? 8? long and 12? in
diameter. Most of the spars are hollow. They are
made up like an 8-stave barrel glued together and
finished round on a large custom-built lathe.
